Most of this is in B/W and is very high quality and some of it is in full colour.

He will demonstrate for you and you will be able to see him teaching a class of students some of the same techniques he demonstrates in the first portion of the production. You will learn many advanced combinations, as well as several reversals, and just so much more... only watching will make you a believer. This man is so filled with ki it simply oozes out of him in every move he does. You will see how he starts and ends a class the exact way he was taught by his master, the founder of Aikido Master Ueshiba. This production was shot at the same time as his 5 volume book set was photographed. This book set is no longer in print and, if you can find them, they sell for hundreds, if not thousands of dollars each. The entire production is as rare as can be. The first portion of it is in B/W and the last portion including a demonstration of Master Saito and as well him teaching a class is in full color. Both portions are very high quality.

This is the best production of Aikido masters demonstrating ever put together in one DVD. You will see the master himself demonstrate and then you will see his seniors all performing at their very best some in color some in B/W. Names like Gozo Shioda, Koichi Tohei, Kisshomaru Ueshiba, Morihiro Saito, Master Ueshiba and several more of Aikido’s top masters all show you there skills. Some of the footage is in full color while others of it dates back to the 1930s so it is in B/W, but it is in very high quality. You will see body techniques, sword techniques, defensive and offensive, Tanto defense, jo offense and defense techniques one on one and multiple attackers plus just so much more it is incredible. Much of this footage was lost until very recently and has never been available until mid 2004, so it has most likely not been seen before. These are the men who to whom Aikido owes its creation.

WE all know he was the founder, but did you see him ever perform at this speed and precision? He moves on his knees like most people walk across the room. He was most certainly a showman, but like the old saying goes, if you can do it it is not bragging, it is a demonstration of your skill. Master Ueshiba was one of those highly gifted people who was able to talk the talk and walk the walk, so to speak. This entire B/W footage is without question some of the best of the master at more than one demonstration or seminar or class. There is no sound, as it was filmed in 1930s. Hence it is a silent movie but the perfect music overlay make it a pleasure to watch. Ueshiba is the one master that all masters, no matter their art watched and used as a role model as he was talented, charismatic and a one of a kind.
